Joe and Honey had a quick start playing one of their first gigs at the Danish music festival Spot 08 and later that year on Trailerpark Festival amongst many other shows around Copenhagen. At that time Joe and Honey’s surf-pop music was inspired by Tarantino-soundtracks and old classics like Bonnie & Clyde. But after half a year as a duo in Spain during the year 2009 Iben Foss and Nikolaj Kirk decided to have a break from the concerts and instead define their own sound without any restraining genre definitions.
The result is ‘Heart Beast’ where the tempo is lower and the sound darker and less retro. The EP is recorded in the autumn 2010 in Copenhagen solely with beats from a 70’s Hammond drum machine, some primitive studio microphones, a dying computer and an old reel tape recorder.
The cover artwork is made by Malene Mathiasson who has just been nominated for her beautiful cover for Oh No Ono’s album ‘Eggs’.
‘Heart Beast’ is out as CD and digitally on iTunes and Gateway Music 10. January 2011
